We absolutely loved the goats, they bring so much joy!!! That was definitely the highlight of our stay. We also spent a lot of time in the hot tub as well as plenty of time hanging out playing games and reading by the fire in variety of comfortable seating options! Cherie was very helpful and responsive, she even let us check out late so we could have a little more time with our goat friends in the morning before we left. We also liked the location. It was disconnected enough that you felt the peace and quiet, but it was a short drive to town if you want to get dinner out or go shopping. This is possibly the first time ever I genuinely did not want to leave a place I am staying. I am already in communication with friends to make another trip happen maybe later this year!”

I was staying alone, so the lockbox door made me a bit nervous as you can’t lock the house from the inside. The door locks automatically but can be opened with the code from the outside. Didn’t run into any problems with it, but it spooked me out a bit the first night or two as someone staying in the woods alone. The hottub was the only disappoint for me. The water was just too murky/cloudy for my taste. The rest of the house made up for it though. I loved the swing chair, and the fireplace in the master bedroom was such a nice touch. I would love to visit again in the warmer months and take advantage of the canoes. Definitely worth a visit!”

“This place was amazing! As soon as you walk in, you can see the goats hanging out right outside the windows. It was extremely clean and the bed was super comfy. Unfortunately, the water was really low and covered with duckweed, so we couldn't take the boat out to go fishing, but that wasnt a big deal. This place was nice and quiet and we had a relaxing night in the hot tub on our last night. Our only real complaint is that it is just a little difficult to find your way at first, until you spot the arrows on the trees. The hosts provide you with a bag of coffee, free of charge, and it is SO good. There is also a cheese factory called Union Star about 10 minutes away and they have excellent cheese curds and beef sticks. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Lots of good places to eat and drink within 20 minutes of the airbnb!”

It was surprising to go for a walk around the property and return to one of the goats walking around outside of the fence. Just a tip for others, it does get a bit colder right now there so you may need to use the heater in the living area. Make sure to clean it out before you turn it on each time. “We just had the best long weekend at the Barn. The location was so peaceful, tons of space for walks in the woods, relaxing at the campfire or in the hammock, and the hole itself was so very unique. Impeccably decorated, the Barn overlooked their goat pasture- it felt like you were at a fancy safari resort, but Wisconsin-style! We loved making friends with the goats and chickens, and my 3 year old son is now obsessed. The interior decoration was so cool, and there are tons of family books and games to enjoy. The hanging egg chair was a family favorite! The kitchen was nicely stocked, and the coffee they provided was insanely good. The single bathroom was massive and was very nice, even with a family of five grown ups and a kid. We brought a cot for our kid, and it fit in front of the double bed in the smaller room too. Our dog was in pup heaven as well- she was just so happy. The canoe and hot tub were awesome bonuses on site. BOOK IT! We’ll be back here soon!”

While it was raining, we took advantage of the nice selection of board games and tried some of the video games. Saw one deer, a hummingbird, cardinals, and a western striped snake (not venomous :)). Cherie is a terrific host - super friendly and responsive. I'd give 4.5 stars if I could - only minor issues such as the ice maker in fridge not working, scratched video games not working, missing pieces for board games/puzzles, tap water having a sulfur smell (but that's part of being in the country), no chickens/eggs, and the river being non-ideal for boating or fishing (lots of plants/muck and fallen branches). Overall, a very positive experience. Highly recommended!”

Rustic but all of the comforts of home (except a dishwasher) and the fireplace required for an insta-worthy getaway. Everything in the cabin was so clean, orderly and easy to find/use. “The barndominium was open and spacious. The hot tub was perfect for 3. Beds are very soft. Goats were fun. Goat treats were provided. Keep the goat food inside the fence or the goats will get their head stuck in the fence trying to reach the food that's on the ground. Fire starter, wood and a lighter were provided for the fire pit. There were a couple of folding chairs there and a few stumps to sit on by the fire. I would recommend bringing beach towels for the hot tub. Everything was very clean. Location is 6min. away from a grocery store, dollar store, gas station and pharmacy. Host was very quick to respond. Oven and stove top work amazing. Fantastic new grill with propane was set up during out stay.”

“This is by far one of my favorite Airbnb stays! It is a very unique and charming stay and should be great for families or couples or just a single looking to get away. I stayed here with my 8 year-old daughter for a mom and daughter quick getaway to connect with each other and disconnect from the distractions of daily life. We both absolutely adored the goats and ejoyed watching their antics from the windows and feeding them. The place is full of thoughtful touches! Some our favorites were: 1. The local and quality coffee with a Chemex pour over for brewing 2. The farm fresh eggs from the chickens on site 3. The vintage chalkboards. My daughter loved drawing on them and we played pictionary and hangman on it. 4. The cabinet of board/card games and puzzles. We spent plenty of time playing these together. 5. The shelves stocked with books, and cookbooks. Our favorites were the books about the local history of the area.
